As of 11 January 2025, the World Health Organization has confirmed a total of six mpox clade Ib cases in Germany. Three cases were among travellers from affected countries in Africa and three cases were household contacts of one of these travellers. On 16 December, four mpox clade Ib cases were reported in Rheinisch-Bergisch district. This family cluster includes two children and were probably acquired from a family member who had travelled to affected regions in Africa.
